Cookie
Policy
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that websites send to a user's device (computer, tablet, smartphone), where they are stored and later sent back to the same site on a subsequent visit. They are used to make the site work correctly, remember language preferences and, in some cases, allow our commercial partners to recognise bookings made through their widgets.
This Site uses technical cookies, third-party cookies and one advertising measurement cookie (Google Ads, described under point 6).
The Data Controller is based in Switzerland: Art. 45c of the Swiss Telecommunications Act (TCA) applies, requiring users to be informed of the purpose of the processing and of their right to refuse it, together with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). For users located in the European Union, the EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR) and the ePrivacy Directive also apply, requiring consent for non-essential cookies.
The Site does not use Google Analytics.
2. Technical (necessary) cookies
These cookies are essential for the Site to work correctly and to browse in the chosen language. They do not require user consent.
| Cookie name | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| 1 year | Stores the chosen language (Italian, English, German, French) | |
| 1 year | Remembers that you have already read and accepted this cookie banner |
3. Third-party cookies — Payments
PayPal
Bookings for boat rental, excursions and boat cruise involve paying a deposit via PayPal. During payment, PayPal may set its own technical and security cookies, independent of our management. For more information: PayPal Privacy Statement.
4. Third-party cookies — Travel partners
Some pages of the Site include search and booking widgets from external partners, which may set their own cookies for the service to function and to track completed bookings (from which BBCalaGonone may earn a commission, at no extra cost to the user).
| Service | Where it appears | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Travelpayouts (tpwgt.com) | Accommodation page, Info & Maps page, Jazz Festival page | Hotel, flight and car rental search widgets |
| GetYourGuide | Activities & Tours page | Tours and experiences search widget, conversion tracking |
| Click&Boat / Impact | Yachts & Sailing Boats page | Tracking of bookings made through our links (no cookie set by us on this page, only upon clicking the external link) |
Booking.com, Trip.com and eBay
The Site also uses the affiliate programmes and interfaces (APIs) of Booking.com, Trip.com and eBay to display availability, prices and products. How this works depends on the type of integration:
- where content is displayed through an embedded widget or frame, the partner may set its own cookies on your device and receive your IP address;
- where the integration runs on our own server, no cookie is set on your device: the partner only receives the search parameters needed to return the results.
In either case, if you complete a booking or purchase by following these links, your data is processed by the partner under its own policy: Booking.com, Trip.com, eBay, GetYourGuide. BBCalaGonone may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you.
5. Third-party cookies — Videos and embedded content
Some pages (Attractions of the Gulf, Cala Gonone Jazz Festival, Free Climbing) show videos embedded from YouTube. If you start playing a video, YouTube may set its own cookies for the player to function and for statistical purposes. For more information: Google Privacy Policy.
6. Third-party cookies — Statistics and advertising measurement
Histats
The Site uses Histats, an anonymous visit counter, to track the number of visitors. For more information: Histats Privacy Policy.
Google Ads
The Site uses the Google Ads tag to measure how many bookings come from adverts published on Google. The tag is present on the public pages of the Site and on the payment return page, where it records that the deposit has been paid, its amount and the booking reference. Google may set its own cookies and receive your IP address.
This is a marketing cookie: it is not needed for browsing and you may refuse it without losing any function of the Site. You can turn off ad personalisation in your Google account settings or block the cookie in your browser as described under point 8. For more information: how Google uses cookies in advertising.
7. Cookie duration
- Session cookies: automatically deleted when the browser is closed.
- Persistent cookies: remain stored until they expire (up to 1 year for language and consent cookies).
8. Managing and disabling cookies
You can manage your cookie preferences directly from your browser. Most browsers accept cookies automatically, but you can change the settings to block or delete them at any time.
Instructions for the most common browsers:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox: Options → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Cookies and website data
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
- Opera: Settings → Privacy & security → Cookies
For more information on managing cookies, visit www.youronlinechoices.com. Disabling technical cookies or partner widget cookies may prevent the Site's booking and search features from working correctly.
9. Consent
The technical cookies listed under point 2 are necessary for the Site to work and do not require consent.
All the others are optional. You may refuse or delete them at any time through your browser settings, as described under point 8, or through the opt-out tools provided by each supplier. Refusing them does not prevent you from browsing the Site or making a booking: Art. 45c TCA expressly grants you this right, and for users in the European Union the GDPR requires prior consent for non-essential cookies.
Consent and its withdrawal for third-party cookies are also managed by the respective provider (PayPal, Google, Travelpayouts, GetYourGuide, Booking.com, Trip.com, eBay, YouTube, Histats).
10. Changes to this Cookie Policy
The Data Controller reserves the right to make changes to this Cookie Policy at any time, for example when new services are activated. Changes take effect from the date of publication on the Site. We invite you to review this page periodically.
